Exclamation Mayor of Cleveland Proposes Closing Streets to Snowmobile Use

This evening I received an email from Mark Kirkhoff, Vanderbilt Snowmobile Club:
" I was just informed that the Mayor of Cleveland proposed to close all Cleveland Streets for ATV and Snowmobile use. I would like members and especially Village of Cleveland residents to attend the next village meeting on Tuesday July 7. Please email me back to let me know if you can attend." (vanderbiltsnowmobileclub@yahoo.com)

When I wrote back to Mark asking if I could post this information here, he stated that he really want to "pack the place to show that we will not stand for such a law". He said that the meeting is at 7:30, but he would like those interested in atttending to meet at the Cleveland Legion (Lake St., which I believe starts as Widrig off of CORT. 49) at 7:00 PM

I am hoping that by posting this here I catch anyone from out of state who has a camp or interest in the area so that they know about it. Please spread the word to anyone you know who would effected and/or interested.

{There are many streets to cross and one to travel (barely a block long) but without them there would be no access to these beautiful trails. It would also effect many businesses in the area! }

All the little chicks with their crimson lips
Go "Cleveland rocks!", "Cleveland rocks!"

Livin' in sin with a safety pin
Go "Cleveland rocks!", "Cleveland rocks!"

I believe that most small villages do not have DPWs and do not maintain roads or streets in most cases they are town ,county or state roads so the village would have to get them to close them.But the village can close all village property to snowmobiles at least that what happenin our village.

Bigbayred you need to find out who owens the road in question and see if you can get them on your side.that way maybe you can get the towns,county and state that are in charge of most of the road to help you.

Why all the sudden change of heart? Residents getting fed up with the loud pipers at 3AM? Does he want to include the county trail crossings or just the trail(s) from the lake up? Is he personally against sleds? How many years have sleds been running the streets/trails around town? What or how do any of the towns business feel about this proposal?

Just some questions from a rider/neighbor on the south shore.
